Medium convinces man to flee from his “demon” wife

January 6, 2011 by Andrew Leave a Comment

A temple medium in Malaysia has convinced a man to leave his wife because she was a demon who had been casting spells on him for years and was now preparing to murder him.

The report in The Star says the family had known the medium for 20 years and regularly consulted him for advice.

The woman says her husband has now abandoned her and is refusing to meet their two teenage children as he believes they’ll be used by her to kill him. The woman, who wants only to be known as Loh, told press;

“The medium told my husband I had been casting spells on him for the past 15 years and that I was a demon trying to kill him.

“He refused to eat or drink at home because he thought I poisoned the food,”

The man withdrew the children’s savings before moving out and has now filed for divorce.

The MCA Public Services and Complaints Department is investigating the case. Department head Datuk Michael Chong said that there had been three complaints this month alone from people who felt they had been duped by mediums.

What would you do if your priest or spiritual advisor warned you that your wife or husband wanted to kill you? Would you do nothing?

Noel Edmonds’ Cosmic Ordering iPhone App

September 21, 2009 by Andrew Leave a Comment

British TV presenter Noel Edmonds has launched an iPhone application for Cosmic Ordering. Cosmic Ordering is the faith technique in which individuals can focus their desires to connect with the cosmos and make those desires real.

Noel Edmonds talked about Cosmic Ordering in public first in 2005. He had not worked in TV since 1999 when “Noel’s House Party” closed. After being introduced to Cosmic Ordering by his reflexologist he found a new prominent position as the host of Deal or No Deal.

The iPhone application allows users to place orders with the Cosmos – such as “improved finances” or “fresh romance” – and for the Cosmos to respond via the application.

He told press, “However, the Cosmos won’t, indeed it can’t, assist you unless you adhere to the three basic rules of Cosmic Ordering, the most important of which is belief in yourself and your right to be successful.”

In Pure Spirit

Do you believe in Cosmic Ordering? Has it worked for you?

What do you think about someone as well known as Noel Edmonds being associated with this?

Superstitious grandfather burns baby to expel evil ghosts

The Chongqing Business Daily is reporting an unpleasant story of a Chinese man applying burning cotton to his granddaughter’s body in order to exercise her of evil ghosts.

The girl had been turning gradually yellow after she was born on July the 5th. The condition, however, was typical neonatal jaundice and not uncommon.

The ritual involved inserting burning cotton threads into the girl’s nose and laying them over her stomach. She was admitted to hospital and released on the 21st.

“The girl could have died,” said Wang Yongming, the baby’s doctor. “If the burns were infected, the girl could be killed by blood poisoning that normally follows serious infections.”

The use of burning cotton to rebuke ghosts is not unique to China. Cunningham’s Encyclopaedia of Magical Herbs* describes how cotton can be planted or scatted in the yard to keep ghosts away and how cotton balls soaked in vinegar can be placed on windowsills to keep evil at bay.

In Pure Spirit

How should authorities react in cases like this? Should the grandfather be kept away from the child? What’s the most extreme thing you’ve done in order to try and keep evil away?

The ghost of Ronald Reagan

June 1, 2009 by Andrew 1 Comment

Nancy Reagan, ex-president Ronald Reagan’s widow, has revealed to Vanity Fair that she often talks to his ghost.

“At night-time, if I wake up, I think Ronnie’s there and I start to talk to him. It’s not important what I say – but the fact is, I do think he’s there.  And I see him,” she told the magazine.

Reagan was speaking from her home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, where the 40th president of the United States of America died in 2004. He was 93 and had battled against Alzheimer’s.

“I miss Ronnie a lot, an awful lot,’ she admits. ‘People say it gets better. No it does not.”. Nancy Reagan also admitted that she would love to reunited with her husband in the after-life but has  no intention of giving up on life as “Ronnie wouldn’t like that.”

The Dragon Lady, as she was once nicknamed, was famous for her use of psychics and astrologers during her stay in the white house. She used both techniques to help schedule the presidential diary.

In Pure Spirit

Do you think Nancy Reagan is really seeing the ghost of Roland Reagan or is she willing herself to see some aspect of him?

Is it appropriate or wise for world leaders to have their diary or other decisions influenced by astrology?

Mother drowned in Maori exorcism

A court in Wellington, New Zealand, was told that a family drowned Janet Moses in an attempt to remove a makutu or curse from her.

All nine people charged with manslaughter, three men and six women, are members of Moses’ family.

Trouble began for Janet Moses when her sister stole a lion statue from a local pub. Janet started acting oddly and a kaumatua, a tribal elder, explained to the family she would continue to do so until the statue was returned.

However, even after the lion statue was returned to the pub Janet Moses continued to act strangely. The family came to believe that she had become possessed.

The family exorcism began with karakia, prayers and incantations, but became more intense with shouting and water being poured down Janet Moses’ throat and into her eyes.

The New Zealand court was told that her 14 year old cousin also had her eyes gouged during the exorcism and had water poured down her throat.

In Pure Spirit

This is a sad story. It seems all to clear that the family was trying to help. If you were the judge what would you rule?

Is it a good or bad that these traditional beliefs persist?

Ectoplasm: Spirit energy manifest

Ectoplasm is a visual (sometimes physical) manifestation of spirit energy.

It is suggested that some spiritual entities wrap themselves in ectoplasm in order to interact with the living realm. It can be theorised that ghosts and other spiritual entities made visible are using ectoplasm in someway.

Mediums in a trance can sometimes produce ectoplasm from the orifices of their body.

It is also theorised that ectoplasm or invisible ectoplasm is the active agent in telekinesis – that it is the substance of the ectoplasm that physically moves objects.

Mina “Margery” Crandon (1888 – 1941) was a well known and controversial American medium associated with ectoplasmic manifestations. Mina was said to be able to product an ectoplasmic rod from her body.

Origin of the word

The word ectoplasm was formed from the Greek ‘ektos’ meaning ‘outside’ and ‘plasma’ meaning ‘something formed’.

In Pure Spirit

Have you ever seen ectoplasm? Do you think the attempts of people like Mina Crandon to produce and proof ectoplasm to the scientific world are helpful or harmful to the spiritualism community?

Topping the New York Times Best-Seller List: The Power of Soul

January 22, 2009 by Andrew 6 Comments

Zhi Gang Sha

Doctor Zhi Gang Sha was nicknamed “The Soul Man” by USA Today. Sha’s third book in the Soul Power Series makes its debut in the number #1 position in the highly prestigious New York Times Best-Seller list in the hardback section.

The Power of Soul: The Way to Heal, Rejuvenate, Transform, and Enlighten All Life* (UK*) goes beyond the notion of mind over matter and reaches the realm of soul over matter.

The book’s success on the best-seller list shows that the American audience still has a healthy appetite for spiritual healing techniques. In reaching the number one position The Power of Soul beat Randy Pausch‘s The Last Lecture* and Liz Vaccariello’s Flat Belly Diet*.

Dr Sha is a spiritual healing academic. He is an acknowledged expert in over 5,000 years of Chinese medicine as well as Buddhist teaching, holy and Taoist saints, healing angles, archangels, Indian gurus, Tibetan lamas and other forms of traditional and spiritual techniques.

Judith Curr, Executive VP and Publisher of Simon & Schuster, the publisher behind The Power of Soul: The Way to Heal, Rejuvenate, Transform, and Enlighten All Life, told press; “Dr. Sha is touching millions of souls and affecting them in very positive ways,” and “We consider ourselves privileged to be the vessel that the doctor has chosen to help spread his message.”

The Power of Soul follows Dr Sha’s Soul Wisdom to the number #1 position in the New York Times’ list.

In Pure Spirit

Is it good news to see a book like this doing so well? It’s worth noting that the book is out in hardback currently and its position in the New York Times’ list is in the hardback section. Soul Wisdom sold well in paperback, however, so there is little reason to believe The Power of Soul will fail to do so.

Demons from the TV: safety tips

January 16, 2009 by Andrew 3 Comments

It’s pretty common to feel the chills after watching a TV program like Most Haunted or Ghost Hunters. Sometimes, however, sensitive people might suspect that there is more going on than just a case of getting the spooks and that the atmosphere at home has really changed.

The question is can a demon or apparition enter your home through a TV?

Needless to say that the stars of the TV programs are quick to say that this is not possible and you should not worry. Many of the kinder presenters may even have second thoughts about their investigations if they thought they would be putting members of the public at risk.

Nevertheless these programs also frequently read out audience feedback where dogs have barked at the TV or viewers have been able to sense a presence in the haunted location through the webcams.

If there’s no connection between the haunted location and the TV then what are the dogs barking at? If viewers can feel the presence of demonic entities then why can’t the demonic entity also feel them?

In many respects, a TV simply acts in the same way as a mirror. In technical terms, some TVs are very similar to mirrors; reflecting light back at the viewer.

Ancient people were rightly fascinated with mirrors and reflections. Many divination arts make use of reflections.

The Wiccan tradition asks that practitioners use protective rituals before using mirrors as a portal to the spirit world or as a communication device.

Fire

Be careful of fire. Fire can be used to help exorcise and push back demonic influences but fire is also used to invite and empower entities. Folk magic warns us against placing candles in front of mirrors as they may well entice something through the portal.

Salt

Salt candle holders are recommended*. Many demons are unable to cross salt and some cannot bear it at all. For maximum effect use a natural way of lighting the flame; avoid chemicals and try modern flints such as the Swedish FireSteel*.  This combination lets you use fire as safely as possible.

Salt, of course, can also be used by itself. A line or ring of salt can be a simple but effective defence.

Safe mirrors

Another precaution is to avoid mirrors that most resemble portals or pools of water. Diamond shaped mirrors* are one of the safest shapes and multi-layers mirrors* are even better as they can be used to break the reflection of the TV set.

Holy Symbols

Holy symbols work best if you have faith and conviction in their message. It is believed that Sean Manchester used a silver cross to thwart the Bikenhead witch Alex Sanders from summoning a demon in 1971.

A more modern alternative is to attach the holy symbol to your mobile as a phone charm*.

Getting help

Finally, be aware that people like Paul Bennett will offer spiritual aid and exorcisms for free or you could pay to have a professional like Samantha offer a psychic reading over the internet.

In Pure Spirit

Have you ever sensed the presence of a malevolent entity in your home after watching something on TV? How did you cope or did the presence remove itself after a while?

Do you think TVs are enough like mirrors to allow something to pass through? If not then how is it possible psychics in the audience can sense something while watching the show?

Do you have any of your own safety tips to share?

Is there something strange at Bidston Hall?

January 15, 2009 by Andrew 35 Comments

August 31: Victim found from Jack the Ripper?
Image via Wikipedia

Bidston, just west of Birkenhead and south of Liverpool, is an area of Merseyside with a dark history.

One of the worse murders of the 19th century can be attributed to the area. The discovery of the remains a family of five was found buried in the cellar of a building near Rain Hill. Emily Williams and her children; Bertha, Marie, Lilla and Syndey had been cruelly butchered.

Suspicion soon fell on the surviving member of the family – the father and husband – who had fled. Police investigated and discovered that Williams had a dark past. Williams true name was likely to be Deeming. Deeming was also suspected for murder – his wife Marie. He had grown up in the Bidston area of Birkenhead before going on to travel the world and using such esoteric aliases as Baron Swanston.

Journalists writing at the time compared the knife slayings to those of Jack the Ripper in Whitechapel just a few years earlier. Some papers even speculated that Williams/Deeming may have been Jack.

The area also has associations with witches and witchcraft. Alex Sanders – who was born Orrel Alexander Carter in 1926 at Birkenhead – was known as King of the Witches. Alex Sanders practised a form of witchcraft that was a blend of Crowley’s magic and Masonic symbolism.

Bidston Hall has a history as a Masonic Lodge.

Alex Sanders once attempted to summon a demon in front of an audience at the Hendon Classic Cinema, London, in 1971. The stunt went wrong and Sanders blamed the failure on one of the audience members wearing a silver Christian cross. To this day some people suspect that that audience member was none other than Sean Manchester*.

Bidston Hill sits on top of a warren of tunnels. Some suggest that these tunnels are used to connect the houses of witches together and that the cellar of Bidston Hall acts at the nexus.

Hauntings

Visitors to Bidston Hall’s bedrooms – especially women – have reported unwelcome attention from paranormal entities during the night. Could this be Williams/Deeming again? He certainly seemed to favour women.

Other guests wake only to discover that they cannot move with some feeling an oppressive weight on their chest or a force holding them down.

The Bidston Hall cellars are also reported to be haunted. Mediums have suggested that the lodge has been the scene of more than one death.

In Pure Spirit

Do you think Bidston Hall could be haunted? Or is the building simply unlucky with its association to withcraft, Alex Sanders and his demon summoning attempts?

The Williams/Deeming murders are only a few years removed from the Whitechapel murders. Whereas both used knives and Deeming seemed to target women… was the Press right to speculate that there may have been a connection?

Most Haunted Live visited Bidston Hall (but called it Bidson Lodge) in January 2009. This post was published before the program aired but we welcome any insight or opinions from any of the audience.

Psychic Medium Readings over Skype: What to expect

January 14, 2009 by Andrew 1 Comment

Here at In Pure Spirit we reached out to Samantha at needapsychic.co.uk rather optimistically. With our fingers crossed we asked whether she would be kind enough to compose a guest post for the site – we were especially keen that Samantha would be willing to write us something about the use of Skype and psychic medium readers.

Skype is a computer program which, like VOIP software, allows you to chat over the internet. You can download Skype for free.

Samantha is a full time psychic and we’re very lucky to have both her time and her expertise for this post.

Psychic Medium Readings over Skype: What to expect.

Hello everyone

I wanted to write today about how to achieve the best from your readings. So many people are now turning to me for spiritual guidance that I feel it is important for you to know that you are able to improve the quality of your own readings. However as I always say to my clients, the messages given will be what you need to hear or know right now in life, not necessarily what you want to hear!

Firstly, I would say don’t pay out for a reading unless you feel you really need one, there is an anniversary of a passing, a birthday or you are just feeling completely drawn. When this happens it is because spirit have something they wish to share with you. Readings that serve a purpose rather than those that are simply to fill in time are always far more productive.

I also advise people not to beg and plead for a certain deceased relative to come through as this neediness is a negative energy and can in fact make the linkage difficult to achieve. Relax. Know that the best person for your situation will step forward whoever they are.

So how should you prepare yourself?

Well, I always say allow your intuition to lead you to the right reader. Go to the one that you feel drawn to rather than let price and availability make your decision for you. Decide before making the call the area of life that you would like to initially focus on, this helps the reader to achieve a stronger link with your own energy and relax.

I like to work to a question such as ‘what is coming up for me in my intimate relationships?’ or ‘why am I going through this particular situation?’.

Make sure you wont be disturbed during the reading and switch off your phone and any music you have playing. This is to allow the energy to flow beautifully between you and the reader.

Skype is a wonderful way to get a reading whether it is through skype chat or skype text but when using skype chat please remember that the reader is using your voice to empower his or her link to the spirit world.

Which moves me on to how to ‘behave’ to get the best out of your readings. Many people think that by remaining silent or not letting on if the medium is giving correct information that they are being clever some how. As if it is their role to test the medium.

I can understand that some people are looking for the proof but I must point out that this kind of behaviour actually is negative and creates a block. A wall as it were which can make it difficult for the medium to connect on your behalf. You are hindering the reading.

To get the best reading possible I suggest that you always tell the medium the area of life that you are looking for guidance on, don’t give the details, just the area and say yes that makes sense to me or no or not exactly, you see the medium needs to recognise if he or she needs to strengthen the link or tell Spirit to communicate clearer.

Spirit often talk in code so that the reader does not know the ins and outs of your life and therefore without your guidance they will unable to get the full message through. So, what we need to achieve the best reading is you focused on your question, undisturbed and relaxed. Nice positive energy and open body language to allow the energy to flow.

The reader is going to form a link with your energy and then use your energy to connect with those is spirit linked to you so a minute or two may be needed at the beginning of the reading whilst this is carried out.

During the reading a lot of readers will use cards or runes initially to help focus the energies. This is done so that they are able to get to the heart of the matter. So don’t be surprised if the reader asks you to say when to stop shuffling the cards and you may be asked to pick left, middle or right as they cut the pack into three sections for you to choose. The best way is to give the first answer that comes into your head.

Allow yourself to be guided also. Usually your reader will give you some information and then wait for a response, this is because there is the need for clarity and acceptance of the message before spirit will give the next bit of information. So please respond, especially when carrying out the reading through chat, loving, positive energy is much more productive and will ensure that you get a far better reading than if you are defensive.

A good medium is never judgmental. Finally, I would like to say relax, enjoy and remember that the words are a gift to you from spirit but as in all things in life, there is free will, and it is ultimately your choice how to live and what to do in the situations you are in, in the end.

Love and blessings,
Samantha
