Kitten-puppy: Cat gives birth to dog

April 15, 2011 by Andrew 3 Comments

A cat in China has given birth to a rather strange looking kitten. In fact, Zhou Yun is suggesting that her cat has given birth to a puppy.

Here’s the picture. What do you think?

Zhou does have a pet dog that likes to sleep, er, beside the cat. However, it’s biologically impossible for a cat to give birth to a dog. If this dog-like kitten isn’t actually just a kitten with natural mutations then Zhou’s local vet has an alternative theory. One of the poor cats kittens died shortly after birth. Could the cat have gone out, stumbled upon a littler of newborn pups and taken one home to replace her kitten?

Last month we had news that a sheep in China had given birth to a dog. This is equally impossible, of course, but far harder to suggest that the sheep went out and stole a puppy to ease its heartache. What do you think is going on?
