Time for Air France and KLM to stop promoting ivory?

Flying Blue is the loyalty program from Air France and KLM. It was created in 2005 when the two airlines merged together and merged the Fréquence plus frequent flyer program with the Flying Dutchman frequent flyer program.

Kenya Airways, Air Europa, Aircalin and Northwest Airlines also make use of Flying Blue.

The frequent flyer program has four levels of membership. At the top there is the Platinum level (equivalent to SkyTeam Elite Plus), below that there is Gold (equivalent to Sky Team Elite), then Silver (Sky Team Elite) and the introductory level is Ivory (Basic).

Critically rare Amur leopard killed by poachers

Rather sadly, WWF UK are reporting that Russian police in Primorsky discovered the skin of an Amur leopard in the back of car. The Amur leopard is one of the rarest animals in the world.

It is believed than less than 20 adult Amur leopards exist in the world today. Between them they may have as few as 5 cubs. The leopards are already extinct in China and Korea.

The day the River Irk filled with bubbles

Thick bubbles measuring an amazing 10 feet deep and up to 150 feet long puzzled environmental experts today as they choked the River Irk in England.

The Sun has published an impressive photograph of the bubble filled river.

The River Irk, Middleton near Greater Manchester is believed to be the site of a chemical spill. Indeed the Robert McBride Ltd factory is situated just up stream of the visually stunning bubbles manufactures soap and detergent.

Microsoft and Gnomedex launch Code for Green

Microsoft’s Live Search team has joined up with Gnomedex to sponsor a green themed coding contest. They hope that Code for Green will make a difference to both the economy and ecology. As the Live Search blog points out Green = Money and Green = Environment.

Web-based applications need to use the Live Search API (Microsoft wants to promote their search engine) and need to be submitted to willcodeforgreen.gnomedex.com come June the 1st. They must use the Live Search API but are free to use other non-Microsoft products.
