Update: Sadly, on the 7th of Feburary 2009, the I Go Organic website went offline. We have not been able to contact anyone there and suspect the economic crisis of early 2009 has forced the businss to close. An alternative to I Go Organic is Graze*.

Original I Go Organic post

There’s a reason why visitors bring fruit to hospital wards when they visit sick friends – fruit is very good for you. Fresh fruit doesn’t stay fresh for long and if someone’s ill then they can’t always visit the local shops.

I Go Organic is the website of a family business in Devon. The company was founded on the principle that shipping chemically treated fruit and vegetables 1000’s of miles was neither helpful to the environment nor the people eating the food.

I Go Organic now stocks a large supply of extremely tasty organic foods. Further more they’re trailing limited free delivery service. If you’re based near Devon in the United Kingdom then you may qualify.

In particular, I Go Organics’ fruit bags which start at only £4.50 for 3 or 4 varieties and reach £12.50 for large bags with 8 to 10 varieties of fruit are recommended. The fruit bags make for ideal deliveries to sick friends or even corporate gifts.

I Go Organic are members of the Soil Association and carry the Fair Trade badge. The site has an organic and I Go Organic news section but neither is updated frequently.

Do you have local retailers that you would particularly recommend? Do you think people eat enough fruit and vegetables today?
