Experts have been commissioned by Liverpool City Council to investigate CCTV footage which seems to show a glowing white figure prowling the grounds of Croxteth Hall.
Some believe that the 400 year old Croxteth Hall is haunted by Hugh William Osbert Molyneux who was the 7th Earl of Sefton. Lord Molyneux was the last Earl of Sefton and friend of King Edward VIII.
Another theory is that the ghost may be the 2nd Earl of Sefton, William Philip Molyneux, who was instrumental in the foundation of the famous Aintree Racecourse. Locals believe that the 2nd Earl of Sefton re-visits the Hall every year when the horses race in the Grand National. The timing of this ghost footage and the Grand National this year does, in fact, fit.
Ghost hunting expert and Most Haunted presenter Jason Karl is among those Liverpool City Council have invited to inspect the CCTV.
Karl told the Telegraph that, “Video footage of phantoms is very rare, and if this stands up to scrutiny it could be a very important piece of spectral evidence for the worldwide community of paranormal enthusiasts.”

I visited croxteth hall 2 days ago 29 aug 12. A photo taken on the big front steps up to the door showed something that looks like a man with a large nose , with what I thought was black hair falling down one side of his face. After reading about other comments from people I now think it could possibly be the black hood they may have seen. His face is peering through one of the small square windows of the front doors, which was directly over my left shoulder. Wish I could see photos of the earls who lived there to see if he could be one of the earls still residing in his hall?
