Italian detectives are investigating a break in of the house where British student Meredith Kercher was murdered.
The house is a crime scene, sealed off with police tape but no longer actively guarded by police officers.
The intruders ransacked the house and left behind four knives and a burned candle. Candle wax was also found in Meredith’s bedroom.
Occult and forms of devil worship are not uncommon in Italy and there are other reported incidents of break ins at murder scenes which have left behind the suggestions of rituals.
Italian police suspect devil worshippers. It could be that the occultists consider the border between this world and the next weaker at the scene of the murder and are attempting to contact spirits.
An alternative theory is that the break ins are not the work of devil worshippers at all. Instead spiritual vigilantes may be attempting to communicate with the spirit of the murdered person in an attempt to divine the identity of the murderer.

How thoroughly do you think the Italian police should investigate this break in? More or less thoroughly than they investigate a break in of a house used by a living person and where their property was taken?
Do you think the Italian authorities are right to suspect devil worshipers?
