This short film reveals the Devil’s twisted view of mankind. It’s not something you should watch at work.

Director Guy Soulsby wanted to create a high-concept short film that could challenge Hollywood in terms of production, acting and visual effects. What a name for a devil movie directory, huh? Soulsby.

The final result is a short horror that’s win a huge number of awards including FilmQuest, The Indie Horror Film Festival and the Lost Angles Short Film Festival.

The dangers of astral projection

This short film looks at what happen if a couple try astral projection in order to spy on a demoness. Why would they take the risk? You’ll have to watch Lilitu to find out!

What is Astral Projection?

Astral projection is a form out-of-body experience in which the spirit (or soul, or some other non-corporeal essence) leaves the physical plane to reach the astral one.

Belief in astral projection is fairly widespread across religions; even the Christian Bible is said to hold mention of it. Paul’s Second Epistle to the Corinthians includes;

“I know a man in Christ, fourteen years ago, (whether in the body I know not, or out of the body I know not, God knows) such a one caught up to the third heaven…”

On Etsy, stores like Alchemystica sell Ormus, a mixture of salt and distilled water, intended to help with astral projection, while Daemon Offerings sells Oleum made from oil.

Caldera is a wonderfully animated short film. It’s dark and surreal but tells the story of one young woman and her battle with mental illness. The film explores the issues around medications, how they are intended to help but also are a battle in themselves.

Directed by Evan Viera, Caldera pulls on very personal inspiration.

CALDERA is inspired by my father’s struggle with schizoaffective disorder. In states of delusion, my father has danced on the rings of Saturn, spoken with angels, and fled from his demons. He has lived both a fantastical and haunting life, but one that’s invisible to the most of us. In our differing understanding of reality, we blindly mandate his medication, assimilate him to our marginalizing culture, and entirely misinterpret him for all he is worth. CALDERA aims to not only venerate my father, but all brilliant minds forged in the haunted depths of psychosis.
