10 of most popular fireworks videos on YouTube

December 31, 2014 by Andrew 5 Comments

The New Year is a popular time for huge public firework displays. Tens of thousands of people brave the weather, enjoy a drink or two and venture outside to watch the sky light up. If you can’t make it outside this year then why not re-live the 10 most popular firework display videos on YouTube.

#1: Fireworks filmed by a drone

At the time of posting this video has had nearly 10.5 million views. A DJI Phantom 2 drone with a GoPro Hero 3 silver was flown, without being damaged, through this fireworks display. The footage is incredible. No wonder Amazon has launched a Drone Store of its own.

#2: London fireworks on New Year’s Day 2011

The first of the BBC’s London New Year fireworks to appear on this list. This video has had almost 6 million views. We’ll see more of London in the top ten but sadly Edinburgh’s Hogmanay firework display doesn’t feature.

#3: London fireworks on New Year’s day 2012

The footage here is better, crisper and tracks the action more carefully than the 2011 effort from the BBC. No wonder this video is catching up in terms of views with nearly 5 million views to its name.

#4: London fireworks with music and sound bites of 2012

Another video in the millions. The BBC are on to a winning formula here. Is it just the British who love to watch London light up with the fireworks on New Year’s Eve or are these viewers from all over the world?

#5: Large 24 Inch Firework Shell

Filmed in 2007 this video may show the last 24″ firework ever to be legally set off in America. It’s a shorter video than the London firework displays but more than one big bang.

#6: World largest fireworks (48 inch shell!)

If the 24 inch firework shell wasn’t large enough, this video with 3.5 million views, lets you see a 48″ shell launch from Katakai Niigata in Japan.

#7: London Fireworks 2014 – New Year’s Eve fireworks

The BBC returns with last year’s London fireworks display. There are 18 tracks for this video including Pink Floyd, Ellie Goulding’s Burn, David Bowie’s Let Dance and Queen’s Another One Bites the Dust.

#8: Japanese Fireworks: Fireworks Festival of the New Year

A third part of a collection of videos that shows fireworks from 2010 being launched in the Tochigi prefecture in Japan.

#9: MEGA 48 inch firework shell

Still the biggest firework every made at 48″. Some say they can see a trollface appear in the explosions at around the 0:20 mark. Can you?

#10: Disney World Fireworks Display “Wishes” Magic Kingdom

Filmed by tourists with a great view of the Magic Castle in Disney World. This video has had more than 2 million views from when it posted in 2007.
