March 1, 2012 by Andrew Leave a Comment

Fairtrade Fortnight runs from 27th February to the 11th of March and, as you’d hope, has a whole bunch of celebrities.

The Fairtrade Foundation has a campaign called Take a Step for Fairtrade with a YouTube channel. If you’re looking for TV faces willing to poke fun at themselves on camera then this is the channel for you.

February 13, 2012 by Andrew Leave a Comment

The team at Ethical Superstore kindly reached out to In Pure Spirit to say hello. As regular readers will know, this blog has covered Ethical Superstore as a top resource for green and friendly products before.

The question put to Ethical Superstore was simply this; “What do you think the top five ethical gifts for this year’s Valentine’s Day will be?”

Here’s their response.

We took a look at last year’s five bestsellers because we predict they are are sure to be a big hit in 2012 as well:

‘Give the gift of your heart this Valentine’s with this vibrant decorative heart of Fairtrade bells’

‘Women aren’t the only ones who can be spoilt, and these classic cufflinks made from decommissioned fire hoses are sure to put a smile on any man’s face’
Recycled Fire Hose Torpedo Cufflinks, £16.25

‘Be more aware this year, and give the man in your life some stylish and ethical underwear’

How was your Valentine’s Day? Did you get any ethical or green gifts? Did you get any rainbow knickers? Or shouldn’t we ask!

Should we attack George Clooney?

September 12, 2011 by Andrew Leave a Comment

George Clooney seems like a stand up sort of guy. He has put his head above the parapets to try and make the world a better place. He was the driving force in Not on our Watch which was a real effort to try and stop the genocide in Darfur at a time when the world’s leaders seemed happy to ignore it. His charity has raised millions of dollars and funneled much of the cash through the World Food Programme.

However, you’ll recognise this as the Nespresso advert.

In Pure Spirit

What do you think? Is George Clooney just an easy target because he’s tried to do right in the past? Do you expect actors to research brands very carefully before accepting work from them? Should he do even more than he’s already done?
