Is this Bigfoot?

August 7, 2012 by Andrew Leave a Comment

We’re used to blurry images of shapes behind trees or highly unlikely looking humanoids when it comes to photographs of Bigfoot. Sometimes the most realistic and believable photographs turn out to be part of a clever viral marketing campaign.

So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at this photograph.

The photographer is unnamed (but not unknown) and a game trapper from Alberta. A woman, who wasn’t at the scene when the photograph was taken, called Penny and a friend of the trapped uploaded the image to Facebook. She denies this is some sort of escaped gorilla.

“I know this person. They are a dogsledder and would in no way be the type to try to fool around with fake pictures. They actually think it’s a bear and cub but for some reason they only have one photo. Strange.”

Bear? Gorilla?

Hoax?

What are your thoughts on this photograph? If this isn’t Bigfoot – could this photograph perhaps explain why people sometimes mistake bears for Bigfoot?

Is this the Lagarfljóts worm

February 15, 2012 by Andrew Leave a Comment

Known sometimes only as the Iceland Worm Monster, the Lagarfljóts worm is one of those creatures like the Yeti or Bigfoot that science dismisses and yet people keep on seeing. Unlike Yeti or Bigfoot there have been fewer faked sightings of the worm.

The myth daets back, at least, to the 14th century in Iceland – to Lagarfljót in Egilsstaðir – when the locals believed worm sign would herald natural disasters.

There are some explanations as to why the myth persists. Some suggest that rising gas from the lakebed could create openings in the ice and bubble deris to the surface.

Check out the video below and let us know whether you think this strange slithering shape in the icy lake is natural or not.

Is this Bigfoot caught on camera?

May 29, 2011 by Andrew 1 Comment

Loads of us have phones with video cameras these days. We see the effect in the news every day – there is film footage of events that we’d never previously to get see; be those fires, inside of wars, riots, rescues or just animals being cute. Surely this means that our chances of catching video footage or rare or legendary animals is also increasing?

Samantha posted a short video of a hiking trip to YouTube. She didn’t spot the human figure at the time, she says, but noticed it only once she had the video on the PC. Check it out for yourself;

There’s a good deal of camera shake there. Samantha is walking across rough ground as she shoots this video. As it happens another YouTuber has stabilised the version – in this video its the frame that shakes but the central video image remains steady.

The video was taken at Downriver Park in Spokane, Washington in the States.

Is this a hoax? Lots of people think it is – describing the scene nothing more than a man in a big suit walking entirely like a human, or walking in a strange way to begin with but reverting to a more humanlike gait as he moves to the left of the screen.

What do you think?
