The White Lady of Tyrone: Ghost-hunters flock to the scene

January 8, 2009 by Andrew 1 Comment

In recent weeks there have been a number of reported sightings of a white lady haunting a remote spot in Country Tyrone in Northern Ireland.

The reported sightings have become so wide spread and so common that cars belonging to sightseers and ghost-hunters clog the Mullaghmoyle Road, near Coalisland, where the ghostly woman has been seen the most often.

The sightings are compelling. Raymond Bell told the Daily Telegraph that his 17-year-old son did not believe in ghosts but after witnessing the white lady on numerous occasions had changed his mind.

Local politician Desmond Donnelly dismissed the sightings, saying; “If you ask me, it’s more likely to be a reflection of the moon on the river that flows through the area.”

“This demonstration flight represents another step in Continental’s ongoing commitment to fuel efficiency and environmental responsibility,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Larry Kellner. “The technical knowledge we gain today will contribute to a wider understanding of the future for transportation fuels.”

Papua New Guinea has a population of around six million, Aids infection rates as so high in the island that it accounts for 90% of all the HIV infections in the Oceania region.

Don’t be the vegetarian cook who kills birds

January 7, 2009 by Andrew Leave a Comment

Did you know that Teflon contains chemicals which kill birds?

This is not new news but rather like its namesake it has the ability to slip off the radar. The problem with Teflon is that it contains chemicals known as PTFE and PFOAs. The Environmental Working Group has published a study which clearly charts just how dangerous this still very common material is.

Equally as compelling are comments from people like Jojo Milano who LA Green Girl Siel Siel’s blog that;

As a long time bird owner, we knew years ago how dangerous and toxic Teflon, no stick is. As Birds were dropping dead from frying up some thing in the kitchen or using the brand new stove, coffee pot, microwave and so on. The Teflon is not just in these NO stick pans. Its everywhere. And bird owners across the world were coming together in groups wondering what killed their parrots?
