This stark and impressive print is designed by Ali Gulec. What a clever, Poe-esq, idea. If you’re a fan you buy this in a few shapes and forms, including iPod and iPhone covers, laptop skins, t-shirts and, of course, as prints from Ali’s Society 6 store. In Pure Spirit Is this style of art your […]
Short film: Caldera
Caldera is a wonderfully animated short film. It’s dark and surreal but tells the story of one young woman and her battle with mental illness. The film explores the issues around medications, how they are intended to help but also are a battle in themselves. Directed by Evan Viera, Caldera pulls on very personal inspiration. […]
Victorian Lace Egg Carvings
These delightful carved eggs are created by the American sculptor Beth Ann Magnuson. They’re far more attractive the most of the tacky commerical Easter egg designs that I’ve seen this year. Magnuson uses a high speed drill to hard-carve these turkey, chicken, duck, partridge and even phesant eggs. In Pure Spirit Seen any good Easter […]
When there’s really a ghost in the mirror
Warning – this video, though ideal for you, has some strong lanugage in it. That’s what you get when you give someone the scare of their lives. This is a promotion for the Last Exorcism Part II. Yup! A movie! In Pure Spirit What did you make of the prank? A good one? Are you […]
Demon or dog?
At first glance this may look like some fierce demon of fangs and fur. Fear not. This is simply man’s best friend sticking his head out of the car window. He likes to do that! In Pure Spirit Does your dog like to lean out of the window while you drive?

Mesmerising animated photographs
This clever and mesmerising photographs are a bit of a mystery. They’re from the Tumblr Rrrrrrrroll which says nothing about the creators but does connect with this Facebook account. It has thousands of Likes. In Pure Spirit Do you like the style? Which is your favourite?
How to summon up the formula for romance in Google
If your web browser is capable of drawing 3G objects then it is possible to summon up a lovely romantic heart from Google. This isn’t really a heart. It’s a graph that looks like a heart. If you’re curious the formula to make this graph is this; 5+?(-sqrt(?1-?x^?2-?(y-?abs(?x))^?2))*?cos(?30*?(1-?x^?2-?(y-?abs(?x))^?2)) Look like hard work? You can just […]
Grumpy cat Valentines
This post goes out to everyone who’s had a bad Valentine’s Day. In Pure Spirit Is Valentine’s Day special to you or is a commercial creation that should be ignored?
Explore through the secret door
The Secret Door makes use of Google Maps and images to let your randomly explore visual highlights of the world. I’ve found beautiful waterfalls, interesting pubs, crazy offices, people goofing around, cheeky dolphins and I was even inside a sauna once. Don’t worry; in the sauna it was all blurred faces and bikinis – it’s […]
